Well so, after the first RRFM in July, which was foreign-worker themed, I would say the second RRFM which I went for in August was spectacles and moles themed. Because out of the six people I drew, five had specs and three had moles. The girl above, Avalyn, is the only one without specs (though she had several moles). I also think she turned out the best amongst all the caricatures.

As usual, it started off pretty slowly, so I drew the long-suffering life partner. Oddly, after so many years, this is the first time I’ve ever made a proper effort to draw him. I think I made him look like an illustration from a physical anthropology handbook, captioned “homo erectus sporting hairgel” or something.

Next up was Chris. I should’ve drawn his face rounder, without the cheekbones!

Then Farhan. I think my mistake was that even though he had luscious lashes, they actually turn downward rather than upward, and I drew them upward.

Next up was actually a little 13 year old boy studying in Hong Jong, Jeremiah. He said he was doing a short programme in Singapore during his school holidays to get rid of his Hong Kong accent (which I couldn’t detect at all, so the programme must be working). I have no idea why I forgot to take his photo… he shall henceforth be referred to as the one who got away.

After the one who got away was Gabriel (whassup with the biblical names?). I shouldn’t have made his face look so bottom heavy…

And then Veronyka, who I think I really really didn’t draw well at all… very bad in fact. I apologised profusely but she was really nice about it. Why do I make people’s jaws so heavy? Lesson learnt. Especially for women – go for daintier chins, always.

At this point it was 6pm and me and long-suffering life partner had to leave, although there were several other people who’d put their names on the list:

I was happy to maintain an average of 10 minutes or so, like the last time, but I realise that the only drawing I was really happy with was Avalyn’s. Now I gotta work on improving the standard to meet the time.
